As a kid, one of my favorite pastimes was biking with friends to the local gas station mini-mart, where we’d dig into the freezer and grab a Vegan Honeydew Green Monster Smoothie.
I swear Green Monster Smoothies are like the Starbucks of all smoothies. They are e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. EVERYWHERE guys! You can even make them to order, just like your nonfat no whip skinny latte…. I’d like mine light spinach, little honeydew, no pineapple. K thanks.

A simple search on the internet will crash your computer with thousands of recipe combos. And I know I’m a little late to the game but I really wanted to create a version that I personally love. And doesn’t taste like spinach. Or remind me of knocking back wheatgrass shots in the 90s. But still packed with all the nutrition powerhouses of a traditional green monster spinach! vitamin K, iron, fiber, folate, lutein, magnesium, potassium, protein, calcium!
This one kicks butt – super creamy with this mellow sweetness from the honey dew and banana. Great for the morning, you can also throw in some protein powder or ground flax.

Sorry for the lack of blog posts! My weeks have been swamped in apartment moving, job interviews, and general unproductiveness… so many cute boutiques and bakeries by me! So after all the craziness I’ve been slacking on the dinner cooking… which is why I’m extra obsessed with this green mean smoothie – super quick and easy way to jam in some extra veg into my diet.

Vegan Honey Dew Green Monster Smoothie Tips
Use ripe honeydew : A sweet, juicy honeydew makes all the difference. Look for one with a slightly soft blossom end and a sweet aroma.
Enhance with herbs Add fresh mint or basil for a refreshing flavor twist that pairs well with honeydew.
Balance flavor with citrus A squeeze of lime or lemon brightens the smoothie and helps cut through the sweetness.
Watch your blender speed Start on low to chop ingredients, then blend on high to fully puree for 30–60 seconds.

What can I use instead of spinach ?
You can use kale, romaine, or even Swiss chard. For a milder flavor, stick with baby spinach or mix greens.
How do I make it higher in protein ?

kcalA refreshing and nutrient-packed green smoothie made with sweet honeydew melon, fresh spinach, banana, and plant-based milk. This energizing vegan drink is perfect for a light breakfast or midday pick-me-up.
Ingredients
3/4 cups cubed honey dew
2 cups spinach
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup nonfat plain dairy free yogurt (or nonfat plain greek yogurt)
1 frozen banana (an unfrozen one will work too)
1/2 cup ice
Directions
- Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Honeydew Tips : Choose a ripe honeydew melon — it should feel heavy for its size and give slightly when pressed at the blossom end. Sweet, ripe honeydew adds natural sweetness and hydration to the smoothie.
- Banana Substitute : For a lower-sugar option or banana allergy, you can substitute with frozen avocado or mango for creaminess.
- Chill Factor : Use frozen banana or freeze the honeydew chunks ahead of time to get a thicker, colder smoothie without needing ice.
- Sweetener : Usually unnecessary if your fruit is ripe, but you can add a drizzle of maple syrup or a date if you want it sweeter.
