Halloween Graveyard Oreo Brownies

BOO!

How cute is he?? I am a firm believer that Halloween should be reserved for friendly ghosts, Glinda the Good Witch, Disney Princess costumes, and free candy for all.

Graveyard Oreo Brownies

No thank you to Mr. Scary Clown…creepy house at the end of the street…and movies rated higher than PG- 13. I will never ever forget my first (and ONLY) Haunted House…after surviving at least 6 back to back heart attacks and a possibly sprained ankle from jumping sky high at ever corner… I MADE it outI could see the light… or more like cellphone lights… from kids in line telling their friends that its a HORRIBLE idea to do this. Anyways…SO excited, barely breathing…sprinting through the last 10 feet of darkness.. and I EAT IT. Literally right as my face hits the light. Strobe light style. RIGHT in front of the 50 + person line packed with all of my high school friends…and I when I say eat it. I mean it. Like ate gravel. All up in my face.

Graveyard Oreo Brownies

Never again.

I will be chowing down on these adorable little ghost brownies and watching the Little Mermaid this Halloween thank you very much.

HA! Throwback Halloween fam pic. What you’re missing is the cheerleader beating up the power ranger after the pic was taken…

Ok so these little cutie brownies are ADORABLE – but seriously, they are ridiculously delish! As in the only thing scary about these brownies is that you can devour the whole pan and then still want to lick the batter bowl clean. These are Oreo brownies with my new favorite creamy dreamy Oreo frosting. Call these cookies and cream brownies – whatever you want. They are amazing.

And don’t let the decorating scare you either! These are super simple – the only possibly frustrating part is piping the letters RIP on the tombstones but I firmly believe in you. Your office party/kids classroom/ halloween party will think you are the coolest chick around.

ENJOY!

How to Make Graveyard Oreo Brownies

Step 1

Make the OREO BROWNIES :

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large heatproof bowl, melt butter in the microwave. Add brown sugar and stir until smooth. Add cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and vanilla. Add applesauce and continue to stir until combined. Cool the mixture until you can test it with your finger – it should feel like warm bath water. Weird analogy? Whatever. It works 🙂

Whisk in eggs until smooth, then add the flour and crushed Oreos, stirring again until smooth.

Pour into a 9×13 inch baking dish coated with baking spray. Bake 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with moist crumbs. Cool completely before frosting.

Step 2

Make the COOKES & CREAM FROSTING :

Beat butter in a medium bowl until creamy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, 2 tablespoons of almond milk, and beat until smooth. Add additional milk to desired consistency I only used the 2 tablespoons. Beat in crushed Oreos.

Step 3

How to DECORATE :

Cut the cooled brownies into 24 rectangles and spread evenly with frosting

Make the Tombstones: Fill a pastry bag (or ziplock bag with a small cut at the corner), fitted with a small circle tip, with some of the Vanilla Icing and carefully pipe the words RIP onto the top 1/3 of the chocolate covered graham crackers. Gently push each tombstone into the upper 1/3 on top of each brownie.

Either fit another pastry bag with a large hole tip and fill with additional Vanilla Icing – OR – just pipe right out of the store bought icing tube (that’s what I did). Gently pipe Ghosts by putting a little pressure on the tube and carefully circling up with the icing to form a little Ghost blob. Gently push in two mini chocolate chips for eyes.

  • Kid-Friendly Activity : This is a great recipe to make with kids—let them decorate their own "grave plots."
  • Storage : Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate if using perishable decorations like cream cheese frosting.
