And any excuse to eat them together.

Happy 4th of July guys! I know the real 4th is on Wednesday, but my city did all of their fireworks, parades, and parties this weekend which is awesome but also kinda strange? Because now we’re all wondering what we’re going to do on that actual 4th..?

So I’m really excited about today’s recipe! Its everything your inner child has ever craved mashed into an irresistibly yummy bar… Super kid-friendly and easy to make – these are perfect for the 4th!

When I was in high school my favorite snack was dipping pretzels in peanut butter and then smushing M&Ms all over them. And shoving them in my face.

It would drive my mom nuts because she’d go to make my little brother a pbj sandwich the next morning and there’d be bits of salt and chocolate smeared all over the Skippy Jar. That and oreo crumbs – I got that one from the Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan, remember?? I also used to make tomato and mayo sandwiches because that’s what Harriet did in Harriet the Spy….

Totally unimpressionable 15 year old.  Thank God she didn’t dunk butter in crisco or else we might have had a problem.

So these bars are a mash-up of everything I loved as a kid and everything I obsess over now some things never change! These peanut butter blondies are super soft and moist, loaded with rich chocolate chips and M&Ms, and then sprinkled in even more crushed M&Ms and pretzels.

I hope you all have a fabulous 4th!!

Peanut Butter Pretzel M&M Blondies Tips :

Use Creamy Peanut Butter : Opt for a commercial creamy peanut butter like Jif or Skippy for the best texture and flavor. Natural peanut butter can make the blondies too oily or crumbly.

Reserve Some Mix-Ins for the Top Sprinkle extra M&Ms and pretzels on top before baking for a colorful, crunchy finish.

Chill the Dough for Thicker Blondies Refrigerate the batter for 30 minutes before baking if you want thicker, gooier centers.

Store in Airtight Container They stay chewy for days at room temperature, or up to a week in the fridge.

Brown Sugar Adds Moisture : Use all brown sugar light or dark for deeper flavor and a softer, chewier texture.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use natural peanut butter?

It’s best to use shelf-stable peanut butter like Jif or Skippy. Natural peanut butter tends to separate and can make the blondies greasy or crumbly.

Can I use other nut butters?

Yes! Almond butter or cashew butter will work, though the flavor will differ slightly. Make sure they’re thick and not too runny.

How do I keep the pretzels crunchy after baking?

Add crushed pretzels just before baking and avoid overmixing. A quick bake time and proper storage help retain some crunch.

How should I store leftovers?

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days or in the fridge for up to 1 week. They also freeze well for up to 3 months.

Can I use white chocolate M&Ms or peanut M&Ms?

Yes! They’ll add a twist in flavor and texture. Feel free to get creative with seasonal or flavored M&Ms.

Why are my blondies dry?

Overbaking is the most common cause. Check for doneness early, and make sure your measuring is accurate especially flour.
