Chocolate Covered S’more Pretzels

I feel like whoever decided that Chocolate and Valentine’s Day should go together was either a politician, the pope, or a middle school teacher because that was pretty much the best strategic move in the history of Hallmark holidays.

How do we keep the peace on the one day of the year that can make even the biggest commitment-phobe pop on a Nicholas Sparks movie and just about any breathing female want to Dirty Dancing jump into Ryan Gosling’s arms EVERY DAY. Crazy Stupid Love anyone ??

No matter which way you swing, love Valentine’s Day or hate it there is only one thing that can rebalance the universe on a day devoted to pink, flowers, and nervous boyfriends.

Chocolate….Lots of chocolate. Ladies, you know it! Sorry dudes, you’re a close second.

So as my love letter to chocolate – I made these killer Chocolate Covered S’more Pretzels! I’m so excited about these. Creeping through Pinterest I found a version of them on Love From the Oven and I knew I had to come up with my own recipe!

Over the holidays I always make a zillion different kinds of chocolate pretzels…we all know the usual yummys – M&M topped pretzel O’s, the Rolo ones (SO good), etc. etc.

Chocolate Covered S’more Pretzels

This S’more version takes it over the top. Plus they’re adorable with cute little sprinkles!

These are perfect to big batch and wrap for cute Valentine’s Day office gifts, kid’s classroom parties, ladies nights, so on. Really easy to transport and stack. And incredibly easy – all you need is a microwave. So enjoy everyone!

How to Make Chocolate Covered S’more Pretzels ??

Step 1

Line a glass baking dish with wax paper. Cover with a single layer of 16 pretzels. Cut each marshmallow into 4 slices across the diameter (so 4 circular pieces). If you can’t get 4 pieces out of one, just cut as many as you can, this recipe does not have to be exact.

Step 2

Layer one slice of marshmallow over each of the pretzels. Microwave 30-40 seconds until slightly puffy and a little gooey. Do not cook too long or they will grow/explode! Layer a second pretzel on top of the melted marshmallow. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until firm.

Step 3

Remove refrigerated pretzels from baking dish. Layer another sheet of wax paper on the bottom. Melt milk chocolate in a microwave safe bowl 1 minute, or until smooth, stopping at 30 seconds to stir. Working one at a time, carefully dip pretzel marshmallow sandwiches into the melted chocolate. I like to use a fork to dip – let excess chocolate drip off before placing on the prepared baking dish. Return to the refrigerator and refrigerate 20 minutes or until firm. Serve immediately or store extras in an airtight container. These stay fresh longest in the refrigerator (up to 3-4 days) or at room temp.Step 1

This recipe can easily be made Gluten-Free or Dairy-Free by swapping in GF pretzels or dairy free chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 32 traditional pretzels

  • 4-8 marshmallows

  • 8 oz. milk chocolate (make sure its bar chocolate, chips will not melt as well)

Directions

  • Line a glass baking dish with wax paper. Cover with a single layer of 16 pretzels. Cut each marshmallow into 4 slices across the diameter (so 4 circular pieces). If you can’t get 4 pieces out of one, just cut as many as you can, this recipe does not have to be exact.
  • Layer one slice of marshmallow over each of the pretzels. Microwave 30-40 seconds until slightly puffy and a little gooey. Do not cook too long or they will grow/explode! Layer a second pretzel on top of the melted marshmallow. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until firm.
  • Remove refrigerated pretzels from baking dish. These stay fresh longest in the refrigerator (up to 3-4 days) or at room temp.

Notes

  • Pretzel Type: Use pretzel rods or twists—rods are easier for dipping and holding, while twists give a more snackable bite.
  • Chocolate: Semi-sweet, milk, or dark chocolate all work well. Use high-quality melting chocolate or chocolate chips for best results.
  • Toppings: Crush graham crackers finely so they stick well. You can lightly toast mini marshmallows with a kitchen torch for a roasted flavor.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
